Chittu for Mac

Compress, convert and resize images in bulk on your Mac. Processed on this device.

Requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later (Apple silicon and Intel).

Make a folder of images smaller in one go, without sending them anywhere.

Chittu compresses, converts and resizes images in bulk, on your Mac. Choose files or a folder, pick what you want done, and Chittu writes the results to a new dated folder next to your originals. Your originals are never changed.

Three jobs

- Compress: Smallest, Balanced or Best. Or set your own quality, or a target file size.

- Convert: to JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, or keep the original format.

- Resize: by width, height, longest edge or percentage, or to an exact size such as 1080 × 1080 with a centred crop you can preview first.

Rules Chittu always keeps

- A file is never made larger by compression. If Chittu cannot make it smaller, you get the original back, marked "Kept".

- Images are never enlarged, and the aspect ratio is kept.

- The colour profile and orientation are always kept. Camera details, location and comments are removed only if you ask.

- Transparent images going to JPEG: you choose the background colour.

Works the way your Mac does

- Finder Quick Action: right-click images → Compress with Chittu.

- Share images to Chittu from other apps, or use it in Shortcuts.

- Reads JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF and BMP.
